ASCE Fest, and a new year!

Hey!

We hope you were able to meet people from the Environmental Team today at ASCE Fest. All of the competition teams gave presentations at this event. Think of it as a launch party for the competition teams!

Anyway, one important thing we announced during our presentation: The decal time.

The Cal Environmental Decal for Fall 2010 will meet in 406 Davis on Wednesdays, 6-7 PM.

Also, our email address has changed to CalEnviro@gmail.com.

If you are interested in the team and haven’t already signed up for our team mailing list, send an email to us. We’ll add you, and you’ll receive emails from us about the decal, what we’re up to, etc.

This is Now

We have just sent the documents to our graphics and layout subcontractor (i.e. the art folks at Cal Concrete Canoe).  This is LIVE.

I also want to thank Concrete Canoe for helping us with graphics and paper revisions. We’ve seen an unprecedented amount of collaboration between our two teams this year, and it’s quite fun to be a part of it.

UNPRECEDENTED

We will publish a copy of our paper to this site eventually.

This is LIVE

We are currently storming through the design paper. Come to Davis Hall if you’d like to help out!

The deadline is 5 PM today. We’re almost there.

GO BEARS!

Latest Progress

Hello,

We’ve made some great progress these past few weeks. We’ve collected lots of data from experimental testing, and we’ve made gallons and gallons of constituent water. Yuck!

The Design Paper is due this Friday, and we’ve compiled the outlines of each section. More details at tomorrow’s meeting.

As usual, we will meet in 544 Davis tomorrow at 5 PM. We will most likely head down to O’Brien for construction, so if you arrive to an empty room we may have already gone downstairs.

We hope to finish the majority of the design paper by this Wednesday.

Meeting Tomorrow

Hello!

We will be meeting tomorrow in 544 Davis as usual (5-6pm). We hope to get a roughly finalized design by tomorrow so we can begin building and paper writing.

We may go down to O’Brien during the class period. If you arrive and do not find us there, we’re probably in O’Brien.

See you there!

Cal Enviro is Going to PlayGreen (and you should too)!

Hey all!

We’re going to have a table at this year’s PlayGreen festival, a massive eco-themed festival hosted by the UC Berkeley Recreational Sports Program. Last year the festival attracted around 9000 people. Please come by and check us out! We will have the system there on display.

Here is a link to the festival website: http://playgreenfestival.com/index.php

Team members, please respond to the volunteer email sent out today. If you’re not on the team but would like to help us somehow (help us set up, tear down, perhaps even table) just email us at calenviro10@gmail.com. We’ll see what we can do.

The likes of Engineers for a Sustainable World, Klean Kanteen, BEACN, the Peace Corps, ASUC Sustainability Team, and Whole Foods will be at the event amongst many, many others!

TONS OF FREE GOODIES!

Constituent Water Tested

We tested a sample batch of competition wastewater today. The data can be found under the page “Constituent Water Data.” The page is password protected. Use the password provided in the team email sent out yesterday.

More Updates

Great meeting today!

We broke into design teams and started to brainstorm ideas for this year’s system. Your design teams are roughly the same as your materials research teams. Please work with your team members somehow to create a solid design by next week. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it should be presentable and illustrative of some treatment method.

We are testing chemical properties of the wastewater tomorrow 11 AM – 12 PM on the 6th floor of Davis. I believe the room is 645 Davis Hall. If you are interested in helping or simply learning how we do this stuff, you are welcome to attend!

Monday Meeting (Feb 1)

Hello again!

Tomorrow’s meeting is scheduled for 544 Davis, 5-6 PM. We will most likely break up into design teams and start thinking how we’re going to build our system.

Constituent testing begins this Tuesday. Details tomorrow at the Decal.

Please remember to research your materials (see google doc sent out earlier this week). If you haven’t done so already, fill out the Doodle to help us pick a better day/time for the Decal!

Great Meet!

We had a good first DeCal meet today.

Reminders: Research your materials and update the Google Doc! If you are on the team mailing list, you should get the email about the google doc shortly. Read the rules too!

We’ll also send out a Doodle soon to see what day/time is best to move the DeCal to. If no day works well, we will stick with Mondays 5-6 PM in 544 Davis.

We will also be meeting next Tuesday (Feb 2) to test properties of the constituent water. Time is TBA.
